“We’ve hit a real sweet spot with Starfield”: For All Its Flaws, Todd Howard Needs to Bring the Only Thing Starfield Got Right to Elder Scrolls 6

Bethesda presented Starfield as its magnum opus. However, when the game debuted in 2023, it was plagued with controversies. Gamers believed that they had once again fallen for Todd Howard’s sweet lies, and the RPG was nothing like what the studio had promised.

Gamers felt that Starfield was nothing but a shallow open-world universe that lacked a soul. While the game was filled with issues such as infinite loading screens, lack of promised features, and whatnot, it still managed to nail one feature that Elder Scrolls 6 must bring.

Elder Scrolls 6 can actually learn from Starfield

Right before the release of Starfield, Kinda Funny Games got the opportunity to sit down with Bethesda’s Todd Howard and talk about the space-RPG. He revealed a number of new details gamers were unaware of and revealed how Bethesda is planning to elevate the RPG landscape with the game.

During the interview, Howard was asked about the character creation, skills, and backgrounds players can expect to see in Starfield. Howard explained Bethesda’s unique touch to these aspects and how the studio’s past experience has helped it nail them.

So I think we’ve hit a reel sweet spot with Starfield giving you that flavor right out of the gate where you are gonna pick some starting skills with your background but that also has some flavor.

Starfield might be a failure in many aspects, but there’s no denying the fact that Bethesda mastered the initial setting of the game with traits and background. It’s due to these things that the game has depth to it, with proper lore that can keep you occupied for hundreds of hours.

These factors are the initial hook and even played into the success of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. They might seem small, but they push players into investing more and more hours into the game, customizing their characters, and they don’t feel bored at all. Elder Scrolls 6 needs to continue with this trend and even bring new twists to keep players occupied.

Starfield might be coming to PS5 soon

It’s been a while since the release of Starfield‘s Shattered Space DLC. Just like the base game, it was also bashed by the community for being a lackluster addition. However, since its release, Bethesda has been quiet about any of its future plans, and gamers can’t help but wonder what’s coming next.

Over on Starfield‘s official subreddit, one player has spotted the PlayStation logo on the supported platforms list on the Creation Kit website. However, at the time of writing, Bethesda has removed the PlayStation logo.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

It’s not just the PlayStation logo showing up on the Creation Kit website; there are a number of signs that hint at a Starfield release on PS5. In the last couple of years, we’ve seen Microsoft porting its exclusive games to rival consoles.

Even Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, during an interview with Destin Legarie, stated that there’s no reason not to release Starfield on the PlayStation console. Sure, it wasn’t any kind of confirmation, but it proves that Microsoft is open to the idea.

With that said, do you think there’s anything Starfield managed to perfect? Let us know in the comments below.
