Meghan Markle and Prince Harry still stand as royalty, even though they have renounced the royal family. They have had the same, if not more, media coverage since their big announcement, as well as the information they revealed in their 2022 documentary.

While audiences have all kinds of opinions about Markle in particular, there is no denying that conversation surrounding her is still very much prevalent. Most recently, she is taking part in her own reality lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, where she cooks for her friends and family.
The background that the series is set in is a beautiful home, the one that she shares with Prince Harry and her children. The tale of how they ended up setting up their home is quite interesting for many reasons.
Meghan Markle really wanted her dream home
In 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry bought their Montecito, California, house and made it into a home. Although fans haven’t seen many pictures of this magnificent estate, they did get glimpses in their 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan. However, the journey to get their gorgeous property wasn’t very easy for them.

In an interview with The Cut in 2022, the actress talked about the home and feeling a connection with it. It would seem that they were looking for homes in the famous neighborhood, known to house celebrities like Katy Perry, Natalie Portman, Sharon Stone, and Oprah Winfrey.
They were looking through many houses, and this one just kept showing up over and over again. One would assume that if they were so invested in the house, they should have just bought it. However, Markle revealed that the property was too far outside of their budget, with both of them being unemployed at the time.
We were looking in this area…and this house kept popping up online in searches…We didn’t have jobs, so we just were not going to come and see this house. It wasn’t possible. It’s like when I was younger and you’re window shopping — it’s like, I don’t want to go and look at all the things that I can’t afford. That doesn’t feel good.

Even though she desperately wanted to see it just for the sake of it, she did not want to go window shopping for a home she knew she could not buy.
A very out-of-touch royal paradise
There is no denying that Meghan Markle’s description of being unable to afford a home is quite different from the common person’s. Additionally, their definition of not having jobs is also unlike what the situation would mean for other people. Regardless, they did end up giving in to the fascination they had for the hope and ended up checking it out (via The Mirror).

While the actress made it clear that she and Prince Harry fell in love with the place before they even saw it, they ended up loving it even more when they saw it for the first time. In fact, the actress seemed to have decided that she wanted to buy the home before she even stepped foot inside.
There were many reasons for the same, ranging from the amount of space present in the property to the magnificent architecture. However, it was the two interconnected palm trees that specifically made them want to buy the place, reminding them of their relationship.
The couple bought the home for $14.65 million, and it has only grown in value since being reported worth $29 million.
