Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, has strongly criticized former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo, over her public remarks against party leaders.
Speaking on the growing tensions within the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, he made it clear that her actions were unacceptable and that she would face disciplinary action.
“She has completely gone out of order, and the General Secretary has stated that she will be referred to the disciplinary committee,” he said.
Mr. Owusu Agyemang further insisted that Adwoa Safo must refrain from making public statements about the party.
“She must cease all public statements regarding the party. She has broken the rules, and this is unacceptable,” he stated.
He emphasized that the party would take necessary steps to address the situation, expressing disappointment in her conduct given her past senior roles.
“And as a party, we would apply the necessary regulations and then see what we can do, but for the time being, we are dismayed by her actions, especially considering her past senior roles in government and our party,” he added.
Reiterating the party’s stance, he urged her to immediately halt media engagements and public commentary.
“So Adwoa is being asked to stop all the utterances, all the interviews, and whatever she is doing. It is a human institution, she’s gone wrong, and we are telling her to cease whatever she is doing with these utterances,” he declared.
While calling for restraint, he hinted that the party leadership would determine the next course of action depending on how she responds to their directive.
“We will see how we will do going forward, and I hope she will adhere to what we have said, the General Secretary has said in his release,” he concluded.
