Urgent appeal over missing man, 28, last seen in Westmeath as Gardai and family ‘concerned for wellbeing’

GARDAI are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a missing man.

Mohammad Metali, 28, is missing from his home in Rochforbridge, Co Westmeath.

He was reported missing on Saturday, March 15.

He was last seen in Mullingar on Thursday afternoon, March 13.

Mohammad is described as being around 5ft 9inches tall, with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.

When he was last seen he was wearing a black jacket, a red jumper and white runners.

It is believed that he has access to a brown Range Rover Estate with a 152-D license plate.

Gardaí and Mohammad’s family are concerned for his well-being.

Anyone with information relating to Mohammad’s whereabouts is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

The reference number for the case is PR24139/2025.

Separately, a man in his 50s has been tragically killed following a fatal road traffic accident in Wexford.

The incident occurred yesterday evening, March 15, at around 6.50pm.

The single-vehicle collision saw the motorcyclist pronounced dead at the scene on a local road at Poulpeasty, near Taghmon, Co Wexford.

The man, who was in his 50s, was removed to to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford.

A post-mortem is now expected to take place in due course.

Gardai confirmed that no other injuries were reported.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Taghmon, Co. Wexford yesterday evening, Saturday 15th March 2025.

“The single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred on a local road at Poulpeasty at approximately 6:50pm.

“The motorcyclist, a male in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“His body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

“There were no other injuries reported.”

The road was closed off following the incident and remains closed this morning to allow for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardai confirmed, however, that local diversions are in place.

They have also appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward with information.

They are particularly interested in speaking to those with dash cam footage and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 7pm.

The spokesperson added: “The road remains closed this morning to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6:00pm and 7:00pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact New Ross Garda Station on (051) 426030, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
