Tracy Morgan spoke out after his health emergency at a New York Knicks game was documented by social media users.
In videos posted on X on Monday, March 17, Tracy, 56, was seen throwing up onto the floor while sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Other videos showed him being wheeled away from the basketball court in a wheelchair, accompanied by staff as he used a towel to wipe his face.
The incident caused the basketball game to be delayed for several minutes before it was able to continue on.
“Thank you for all your concern! I’m doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning,” the comedian posted on Instagram on Tuesday, March 18, along with a photo of him laying in a hospital bed. “Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!”
“More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I’ll have to break it out again in the playoffs #goknicks” he added.
The comment section of the post flooded with prayers and well wishes for the actor.
“Get well brother!” one person commented, while another said, “Glad to know you’re okay unc!”
Tracy has been open about his health issues in the past, undergoing a kidney transplant in 2010 and being diagnosed with diabetes.
In June 2014, the actor was involved in an auto accident after a truck crashed into his limousine on the New Jersey Turnpike. The accident left Tracy in critical condition. He suffered a broken leg and was in a coma for two weeks and wheelchair bound. His mentor, James McNair, died in the crash at age 62.
A decade after the accident, Tracy spoke out in a statement, reflecting on that tragic day.
“Today is 10 years since our fateful accident, and I want to say to everyone who was in the van with me that night I Love you, and we miss you, Uncle Jimmy Mac and God bless your family,” he told People in June 2024. “And to the driver that night and his family, me and my comrades forgive you.”
Tracy previously told Closer that the devastating accident gave him a new lease on life.
“I’m here now, and I’m going to do it right,” he told Closer in August 2017.
“I feel great,” he said in an interview with Rolling Stone, after sharing that he did have some dark thoughts after the accident. “My thoughts — I was in a very dark place. I was sitting right here, contemplating suicide. I couldn’t walk,” he admitted to Rolling Stone. “It’s gonna take more than 18 wheels for me to get out of here. I have to raise my girl, raise my wife, raise my family.”
