Tom Selleck has got wife Jillie Mack helping him navigate his new normal post Blue Bloods – and they’re enjoying a lot more romantic time together now that he’s got more time in his schedule.
“He’s slowed way down since the show ended, which has been a big adjustment for him and a little tough, but thankfully he has Jillie to help keep his spirits up,” an insider exclusively tells Closer. “She’s thrilled to have him home more, and he’s certainly grateful to have more time to go on long walks with her and cuddle up on the couch.”
While Blue Bloods ended a historic run after 14 seasons, the insider says Tom, 80, is very clear that “his career isn’t over.” The Magnum, P.I. alum and his wife are “having fun reading different scripts” for other prospective gigs.
And according to Tom’s IMDb page, it looks like he has officially found his next role. He is set to appear in an “Untitled Jesse Stone Project,” which is currently listed as “in development.” A premiere date has not been revealed as of publication.
Working on another Jesse Stone project has been something Tom has not been shy about publicly discussing. Fans have been begging the TV icon for his return to the franchise and are ecstatic that the 10th film is finally coming to fruition.
Before the Blue Bloods series finale aired in December 2024, Tom shared an update on Jesse Stone after a ton of fan speculation.
“I haven’t worked on it yet,” he said at the time during an interview with Parade. “It would be an interesting challenge because Jesse is older now. There’ve been quite a few years between shows. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a viable character. Everywhere I go one of the things I get asked is, ‘When can I see another Jesse Stone?’”
When asked if he was interested in doing a Blue Bloods spinoff with his character, Frank Reagan, he once again brought up the Jesse Stone franchise.
“I’m open to suggestions because I love Frank Reagan, but nobody’s really asked,” he told the outlet. “I don’t see him retiring and going off somewhere. If he goes off to a small town, I’d rather do more Jesse Stone movies.”
In addition to going back to his roots with another Jesse Stone film, the source says Tom and Jillie are interested in working together in the future.
“There’s even some talk that they might produce something together,” the source says, which would ultimately give Tom “more control” over his projects.
“In the meantime, Jillie has been focused on getting him healthier, she makes sure he goes to his physio sessions and takes care of his knees, and she’s big on healthy eating so there are lots of salads and green smoothies,” the source adds. “He still sneaks off for his fast food runs, he loves McDonalds, but at home they do a lot of healthy cooking. Overall, he seems to be doing very well, he’s spending a lot of time relaxing, riding his ATV around on his ranch and just enjoying his time with Jillie.”
