Timothée Chalamet and Tom Holland seem to be reaching new heights of success every day in their careers. Rightfully so, as the Spider-Man star and the Oscar nominee are getting ready for their upcoming projects where they will get a chance to prove their worth again if things go according to plan.

However, dealing with the high stakes life of an actor often comes with its downside. Especially for people who have admitted to having struggled with the same previously, as Tom Holland and Timothée Chalamet have admitted to.

Incidentally, what can help make them feel more at ease is an interview of Johnny Depp where he admitted his struggles with fame during his early days in Hollywood after being labeled as a s*x symbol.

There is possibly no one in this world who takes even a little interest in movies that doesn’t know Johnny Depp. Since his debut on A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984, his career saw a steady rise to fame that spoke of the glorious Hollywood career he cultivated.

Notably, his breakout role in Tim Burton’s 1990 movie Edward Scissorhands let people know of his caliber as an actor completely. Although the Pirates of the Caribbean series followed after, it was his performance in Burton’s movie that first brought him the taste of worldwide fame.

However, all was not as rosy as it might seem. As per People, the actor admitted so in the second episode of Tara Wood’s four-episode document series on the legendary director, after Burton noted how Depp was “very much not” the s*x symbol people made him out to be.

I was completely freaked out by [fame]. Paparazzi would take pictures of me. People would whisper and point their finger and stuff. I felt like sort of this raw nerve on display.

Regardless, the movie proved to be a massive hit and gained a cult favorite status in the decades that followed. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp also collaborated on a myriad of other projects like Ed Wood, Sweeney Todd, and even more notably Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

What’s interesting here, is that Timothée Chalamet, who succeeded him in and as Wonka, the 2023 movie based around Depp’s character from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, shared quite similar struggles in his career.

As stated above, the glamor business can be quite hard to deal with at times. Although it does bring one world renowned fame, that very thing can cause the entire world to scrutinize your every move to the point of causing your downfall.

This is something Johnny Depp is intimately aware of when millions of his fans turned against him during his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. Although not to this extent, both Tom Holland and Timothée Chalamet had faced people and paparazzi following their every move since their career got a head start.

Only in their case, since they started their careers quite early on, 11 in Holland’s case and 17 in Chalamet’s case, they had to adjust to showbiz during their formative years of life. Not only did this make their struggles with fame worse, but also heightened their anxiety about their careers more.

Holland has been open with his struggles for quite some time. Most recently, The Devil All the Time actor noted during an interview with Men’s Health that his short stint away from the spotlight had been the exact thing he needed to reorient his life.

It was just something I needed to do. I had been acting flat out since I was 11.

As per Radar Online, Timothée Chalamet, too, had admitted to having concerts about his career initially. Especially as he grew up in a place full of struggling artists since childhood.

[It] truthfully made me scared of acting, because it’s a tough lifestyle, and a lot of people aren’t doing fantastically.

At any rate, both Holland and Chalamet have seemingly come into their own in recent years. Moreover, both actors have big projects lined up for them.

Tom Holland is starring in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and Timothée Chalamet is starring in Marty Supreme slated to release later this year. Regardless, taking notes from their industry superior, Johnny Depp, on how to carefully navigate their stardom might help them in the long run.
