The highly awaited live-action adaptation of 1937’s animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney’s Snow White starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, is just a few days away from its release. Reports have suggested that the studios have opted for a low-key premiere of the movie to avoid controversial questions at the red carpet.

The film garnered more attention for its off-screen drama than the actual storyline, which is regarded as one of the best-told fairy tales in Disney. It turns out the leading women might have taken their roles too seriously, as recent reports suggest conflict.
Insiders claim Snow White stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot are ‘not friends’
Directed by Marc Webb, Snow White, which stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, has been the subject of controversy since it was announced. Now, ahead of its release, the insiders have claimed that not everything has been fine between the two actresses.
According to People Magazine, Zegler and Gadot, who recently appeared together at the Academy Awards 2025 to present an award for Best Visual Effects Category, do not get along. A source has shared with the publication;
Rachel has nothing in common with Gal Gadot. On top of that, their political views differ, adding to the tension.
Gal Gadot, who is Israeli-born and has served in the Israel Defense Forces, has voiced support for the release of Israeli hostages. Rachel Zegler has advocated for Palestine amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The feud rumors were fueled more when Gadot did not attend the premiere of Snow White in Spain on March 12, 2025.

The insider shared that the Wonder Woman actress was not supposed to be in Spain but continued to promote the movie in New York. They added it’s not like a stay-away-from-me situation for them, as they’d be together for the movie at the premiere in Los Angeles. A third source, however, added that Gal Gadot is not very keen on the drama that has followed their movie.
Gal is annoyed by the movie drama. She enjoyed filming. She was fine with Rachel, but they are not friends. They have nothing in common. They did a job together; that’s it.
It has been reported that they were never friends, but the age gap and their political opinion seem to have kept them at a distance. A source also shared with Page Six that the reason why the studios have decided to scale back on their premiere is because the lead actress is ‘out of control.’
The source noted that she’s young and outspoken, and the studio chiefs have personally called her up and asked her to tone down her posts for the sake of the film. But Zegler won’t listen, so the last possible option they had was to scale down the premiere.
Rachel Zegler’s comments don’t help Snow White
The young actress who plays the titular role was finalized to play the character in 2021 and faced backlash from users online as they believed that she was miscast. Rachel Zegler, in speaking to People back in 2022 at the D23 Expo, shared,
Most of my character does not work for today’s audience, I’ll just say. We did a really deep dive into fixing and making a modern woman out of Snow White. She is 18 in this one, and she is a bit more independent.
Zegler continued that her version of Snow White is also living in grief, clarifying that there were a lot of complex emotions that they decided to deep-dive into. The actress noted that they wanted to understand what it’s like to feel those emotions while being a teenager.
Deviating a bit from the source, Zegler shared that it was incredible to watch the cartoon, adding that there is no more waiting for a man. Rachel Zegler mentioned that she hopes the audience would like to see the journey of her Snow White becoming a really wonderful leader.

She also shared that when she took on the role, she did feel a sort of pressure, which was bad for her, but after recalling her experience on West Side Story, she feels ready to take on something like Snow White.
One of the controversies the movie is caught up in is using CGI to bring the seven dwarfs to life. Martin Klebba, who voiced the role of Grumpy in the movie, shared with the NY Post;
When it comes to the animated part of it, I guess you could have left it with just doing the animals animated. And you could have tried to maybe find 7 little people. But you’ve also got to find 7 little people who could act and have good chemistry.
The veteran actor also noted that the actors were welcome to audition for the dwarfs’ role, but if they decided not to, it was their will. He said he did it because he got the opportunity to be one of the seven voices of one of the most iconic characters in an iconic franchise. He was happy to do it.
Snow White is set to premiere on March 21, 2025.
