The Boys Star Jack Quaid’s New Movie Gets an Insane Rotten Tomatoes Score, Proves He Has a Future Outside Superheroes

Jack Quaid of The Boys fame has only gone from strength to strength. The 32-year-old, who first appeared in The Hunger Games, has carved out a reputation for himself in the superhero genre. But there is more to him than just that.

Quaid hasn’t shied away from giving any new venture a swing. His latest, Novocaine, is no different. The action/thriller is yet to hit theatres but has already proved that fans and critics are buying it.

Jack Quaid hasn’t turned back since starring in The Boys

While The Hunger Games was not the first big break Jack Quaid would have hoped for, The Boys took him to the next level. Hughie Campbell seemed to have been made for the 32-year-old.

The comic timing and drama he brought to the project were a breath of fresh air for the fans. It doesn’t come as a shock that acting runs in Jack Quaid’s blood.

There was one fear though. Would Quaid be limited to the genre only? Many stars find it difficult to transition into a versatile role after their big break. But the big stars always do. That is their hallmark. Michael B. Jordan is one such name that comes to mind. The Just Mercy star has successfully proved that there is more to him than playing the role of Killmonger.

The Scream star has also never shied away from experimenting (though the chances that have come his way have been scarce). From the horror flick to Nolan’s Oppenheimer, he has shown that he is not one to settle when it comes to playing varying roles. And his latest venture has settled any existing debate, once and for all.

If Novocaine‘s trailer is anything to go by, Jack Quaid is truly in his element. The Plus One star essays the role of a man who can (literally) feel no pain. And it seems like he really has nailed it.

He is no stranger to facing big guys, having done so countless times in The Boys. But his character’s medical condition adds a new layer to the action (and a host of responses that not only shock his nemesis but the fans as well).

What we have as a result is a movie that perfectly binds action with comedy. And a role that will enthrall fans around the world. Directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen have made good use of Jack Quaid’s skill set (something which can’t entirely be said for Amber Midthunder’s action prowess).

Novocaine has already rocked its way to an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, proving its mettle to the world. Add to that the fact that it looks likely to make $10-12 million its debut in these trying times (FYI the movie’s budget was $12 million) and you have a project that will go down as a success.

While that fact will please the Companion star, he must be more excited about the fact that he has managed to break the stereotype that many expected him to relish.
