Fanfic records are quite common in the anime community, given the wide array of iconic characters in a series or manga. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s cultural phenomenon Chainsaw Man is one such anime featuring a number of deeply flawed and relatable characters, inspiring a sheer volume of fanfics. But any guesses for who might be in the top tier with the most fanfics recorded?
Well, the titular character, Denji is quite a predictable guess, but there is another popular name alongside the protagonist that might just surprise everyone. It’s none other than Aki Hayakawa, who has surprisingly claimed the fanfic crown, surpassing the likes of other notable characters Makima, Power, and Himeno.

Who would have thought the emotionally repressed, chain-smoking Devil Hunter in Tatsuki Fujimoto‘s story, Aki Hayakawa, could surpass other fan favorites, particularly Makima? Well, it’s the truth as a tiermaker post for the number of fanfics of each Chainsaw Man character was recently brought to light on Reddit.
It is Denji and Aki, one of the two tritagonists (alongside Power), who are sitting in the top tier with more than 3000 votes. And it came as a huge surprise that Makima, despite being the only devil who came close to ruling the world in Chainsaw Man, hasn’t managed to claim the throne for fanfic records as she is below Aki on the list.
The same is true with Power, who became one of the most likable characters in the series owing to her endearing, gremlin-like demeanor. Aside from the wild and unhinged Blood Fiend, there is another fan-favorite, Himeno, who failed to make it to the top tier despite her sympathetic and interesting character.

With the tritagonist of Chainsaw Man making it to the top tier, powered by his hot looks with a sword and devastatingly good hair, a slew of fans were left quite surprised with the fanfic records. A user also flocked to the comments section to voice disapproval over these fic stats.
While many showcased their displeasure with Aki claiming the fanfic crown over the likes of Makima, Power, and Himeno, a fan hailed him as the ‘G.O.A.T.’ Perhaps, it was Aki’s tragic backstory and angst potential that helped him carve out a fanbase in the anime/manga community.
Not just Makima and Power, but other powerful female characters in Chainsaw Man were left in the lower tiers. One such name is Reze, aka, Bomb Girl, who was sent on a mission to steal Denji’s heart before she eventually developed a crush on him. Reze is the titular main antagonist of the Bomb Girl arc and it was her kind and gentle girl appearance that made her a fan favorite.
Another fan found it a bit surprising that the Bomb Devil got into one of the lower tiers of fanfics despite the fact she has an enormous amount of other fan content like fanart, cosplay, fan-animations, etc..
Maybe Reze might get a bigger boost when the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc gets released? Guess, fans will have to find that out after the release of the much-awaited Chainsaw Man film.
Another admirable female character in Chainsaw Man, Kobeni Higashiyama, got a shout-out in the comments section. Fan hailed her as the ‘G.O.A.T.,’ perhaps, because of grounded, human efforts and struggles that make her one of the most likable and relatable characters.
Tatsuki Fujimoto has certainly focused on making his characters admirable and relatable in every possible way. Due to this, it is hard for fans to choose any one and these fanfic stats are a point of debate.
