The second season of the Solo Leveling anime series is on a roll right now with the Jeju Island arc which is one of the most significant storylines in the series. From introducing important characters like Beru to the death of many S-Rank hunters, the ongoing arc is doing everything perfectly except for one tiny mistake that fans might have failed to notice.

In the most recent episode, fans saw Ant King (Beru) kill the S-Rank hunters from Japan and also take down the S-Rank hunters from Korea. The Korean team also lost one of their most important members in the form of Min Byung-Gyu who was the healer for the squad and helped them against the many fights that took place before the arrival of Ant King.
And while Min Byung-Gyu’s death is a sad moment in Solo Leveling, it was probably one of the easiest kills for Ant King which was the result of a stupid mistake committed by Ma Dongwook, the Guild Master of the Fame Guild. Ma Dongwook pointed out the presence of Min Byung-Gyu and thus directed the Ant King towards him.
The hunters who died during the Jeju Island arc
The Jeju Island arc in Solo Leveling is one of the few arcs that see the deaths of many prominent S-Rank Hunters in the story. The arc begins with the destruction and terror caused by the monstrous ants which eventually becomes a big problem and thus requires immediate attention. This led to Japan and Korea forming an alliance in order to kill the ants and their queen.
When the raid begins in Solo Leveling, it feels a little difficult but the S-Rank hunters from Korea and Japan manage to take control of the situation more or less. The Korean hunters kill the Queen ant and are about to leave when they feel the presence of the Ant King, who initially killed Tatsumi Fujishima, Kenzo Tanaka, Akari Shimizu, Kei, and Ippei Izawa.
When the Ant King came across the Korean hunters, he almost killed each and every one of them, but they somehow survived. The only one who lost his life was their healer, Min Byung-Gyu. After killing Min Byung-Gyu, the Ant King went on to search for another powerful hunter, and thus came across Mari Ishida and Goto Ryuji, who were also killed in an instant.
Min Byung-Gyu’s death was a stupid mistake
As mentioned above, the only Korean hunter to sacrifice his life during the raid was Min Byung-Gyu, the healer of the group. He constantly protected everyone and healed them against the ants and against the Ant King too. However, during the battle with the Ant King, Ma Dongwook disclosed the fact that they have a S-Rank Healer who is currently hiding his presence.

Not only that, he even revealed that Min Byung-Gyu was the one responsible for constantly protecting them against the attacks of the Ant King. This led to the Ant King finding out about Min Byung-Gyu and he decided to take him out first so that he could toy with the rest of the hunters.
The Ant King figured out Min Byung-Gyu’s ability to become invisible and thus felt his aura and went on to decapitate his head.
There are speculations that if Ma Dongwook had not pointed out Min Byung-Gyu’s existence, the Korean hunters would have been able to defeat the Ant King on their own. It was a mistake on Ma Dongwook’s side which led to the death of the strongest healer in Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
