KITTING out a kitchen with new pots and pans can make for a costly shopping trip.
If you haven’t got the cash to splurge on fancy cookware, it’s OK, you just need to know where to look.
That’s how one savvy shopper has managed to restock her kitchen cupboards with brand spanking new cookware, for under a quid each.
Eagle-eyed bargain hunter Gill Holland posted her haul of Joseph Joseph bowls and Tefal frying pans on Facebook, to the 2.6million members of Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group.
She’d noticed the mega reductions in her local supermarket, Tesco, and told users: “If you’re in Tesco, check out the cookware section just in case….pans and accessories 90p each down from £30+.”
Tesco’s cookware department stocks a few big name brands, including Salter, Russell Hobbs, Go Cook and Meyer.
Gill had managed to nab a six-piece food preparation bowl set from Joseph Joseph.
The set included three mixing bowls, two preparation bowls and a colander – for just 90p.
The bowls are now out of stock on Tesco’s website, but had previously been reduced to £9 – the set is currently listed on Argos for a whopping £30!
She’d also picked up two Tefal frying pans, costing her 90p each.
And a large Tefal stir fry pan costing her, again, just 90p.
Gill’s quick browse through the kitchen section had saved her loads of cash on good quality cookware.
And other users couldn’t believe her luck.
One person commented: “Never get anything that cheap in our Tesco.”
While a disappointed shopper wrote: “I paid £9 for this pan today on clearance.”
Someone else who had also spotted the reduction, said: “Yep I’ve just treated myself too – bargains galore & good quality pans!”
Somebody else wrote: “I’m desperate for new pans.”
And another user said: “Need to check that out.”
While someone else said: “The bowls look amazing.”
Insider tip from a Tesco employee
A Tesco employee has revealed a surprising secret about the self-scan trolleys.
According to the worker, random checks on customers using these trolleys are not entirely random.
The checks are actually triggered by a specific customer habit.
If you frequently pick up and put down items without scanning them, you’re more likely to be selected for a check.
This is due to the system detecting suspicious behaviour, which could indicate potential theft.
So, to avoid delays, it’s best to scan items immediately after placing them in your trolley.
