Sen. Schumer will vote to advance GOP funding bill, fearful shutdown would empower DOGE

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) took to the Senate floor on March 14 to explain why he planned to vote to avert a government shutdown by supporting a GOP-led budget bill. Although Schumer said the “CR is a bad bill,” he was fearful that a government shutdown would “allow DOGE to shift into overdrive.”
