SCOTT McTOMINAY’S all action displays for club and country have led to BURNOUT for the Napoli star, according to reports.
Pundits in Serie A have also spotted signs the Scotland star is “exhausted”.

The midfielder has become a Napoli hero since signing last summer[/caption]
And he’s been a key man for Steve Clarke’s Scotland side too[/caption]
And that’s bad news for Scotland boss Steve Clarke who faces two crunch Nations League play-off games with Greece within the next ten days.
McTominay has been a massive player for the national team in the past two years – filling in as a makeshift defender or chipping in with key goals.
But Napoli are now said to be managing his condition as he struggles to maintain his frenetic pace.
He’s endeared himself to fans at his new club he joined from boyhood team Manchester United last summer for £28million.
Since then he’s scored six times in Serie A and played all but 25 minutes in the league since starting his first match back in September.
He was substituted at the weekend win over Firoentina however – but even then it was with just four minutes to go.
His dependability and relentless schedule is catching up with him though, it has been claimed.
“There is great concern about the condition of McTominay, who was substituted in the 86th minute of the match against Fiorentina.
Italian outlet TuttoSport report: “The medical staff is adopting milder training for the Scot, in order to manage his fatigue phase due to the enormous work he is doing in Napoli.”
And pundit Raffaele Auriemma told StileTV: “Napoli have been playing with a four man defence for the past two games, with two or four midfielders and two forwards.
“They are not playing with a 3-5-2, they have only done so in two games (Lazio and Como). McTominay is currently exhausted.
“He has been doing different (training) work for a week and we need to understand whether it is better to play with him or use (Philip) Billing, but only Conte can know that.”
Scotland players are due to meet up for the first time in 2025 next week.
They’ll train at The city Stadium before facing a first leg in Athens on March 20 with the return at Hampden three days later.
Boss Clarke has called McTominay up as expected, but he’s been forced to leave the likes of Lyndon Dykes and Ben Doak out through injury.
Both also missed last summer’s Euros and have been struck down again.
However that’s made space for under-21 call-ups James Wilson of Hearts and Motherwell‘s Lennon Miller.
Uncapped Max Johnston also has a spot in the squad, as does Ipswich Town goalkeeper Cieran Slicker.
As well as McTominay, three other Serie A Scots have been called up – Billy Gilmour, Che Adams and Lewis Ferguson, although there is no place for Serie B side Sassuolo’s Josh Doig.
