RTE First Dates Ireland contestant leaves Dubliner in stitches with hilarious ‘wrong name’ wedding mishap

AN RTE First Dates Ireland contestant has left a Dublin man in stitches after telling his hilarious “wrong name” blunder at a wedding.

David, 36, who described himself as a “chaotic person”, was true to his word as he impressed Shane, 45, who was looking for his “Mr Perfect”.

David was looking forward to ditching the dating apps and falling in love “face-to-face” and it’s safe to say he met his match in Shane.

The lads hit it off straight away as they had both become teetotalers in recent years and discussed their journey to sobriety.

Both David and Shane were big into a family orientated lifestyle and made sure to emphasise that immediately.

David even told how he married his brother and sister-in-law when he got ordained for their wedding.

However, the cheeky fella made Shane laugh when he explained how he forgot his sister-in-law’s father’s name at the wedding.

He said: “Yeah so I think I called him Michael and his name was Martin. But it was all good I styled it out.”

Shane asked: “Okay hang on so is it Michael or Martin?”

David humorously responded: “Ehm I don’t know, no idea, I’ve got it confused so much now so I don’t know.”

The Dubliner’s hilarious story sent Shane into a fit of laughter as he covered his face.

The lovebirds ended up having “one of the best first dates ever,” according to David, who called Shane “warm and easy to be around.”

While Shane kindly added: “He’s just a really good guy, like a real diamond.”

The men both agreed to a second date, with Shane promising David to take him to his “secret brunch spot”.

Elsewhere on the episode, “sex-driven” and heavily flirtatious Minnie, 30, from Cork, was paired with Chris, 32, from Dublin, who was looking for a girl he could “show off to his mates.”

UNIMPRESSED

The couple got off to a blazing start until Chris made a comment about it being “easier” for “good looking girls” to pass their driving test.

Minnie was not impressed by the remark as she added: “That’s such a sexist thing to say.”

Chris responded: “It’s not sexist it’s just honest, it’s pretty privilege.”

Thankfully, the rest of their date went smoothly and the pair even managed to make it onto a second date later that week.
