Rangers secured a first Old Firm win at the home of their rivals for almost five years on Sunday.
Hamza Igamane struck a superb late winner as Barry Ferguson‘s men emerged victorious 3-2 in a thriller.
But it’s the wild celebrations in the immediate aftermath of the goal that have dominated the derby day fallout.
TV cameras picked up the moment Rangers winger Cerny – who had been subbed off at Parkhead – spraying a bottle of water in the direction of the Celtic fans.
It sparked a furious reaction with police and security personnel having to intervene in an attempt to calm things down.
Police Scotland have confirmed to the Scottish Sun that they are looking into the matter.
Meanwhile, reports claim Cerny could also find himself in bother with the Scottish FA.
Footage that subsequently emerged also shows his Gers teammate Nedim Bajrami appearing to spray water in the direction of Hoops fans.
Several missiles can also be seen being thrown towards the celebrating Rangers players from the home crowd.
Former Light Blues defender Alan Hutton reckons Cerny’s actions could have sparked a RIOT.
And he reckons he could be forced to ‘learn his lesson’ in terms of any punishment that lies ahead.
Hutton told the Scottish Football Social Club: “He’s got a little bit over-excited, hasn’t he? That’s what’s happened.
“I think he’s got a bit over-excited, he knows what he’s doing, he sprayed the water. He shouldn’t have done it.
“You know what happens, it starts a riot.”
Host Darrell Currie responded: “It could’ve sparked a riot, it almost did!”
Hutton continued: “Exactly. I’m sure they’ll look into it and do what they need to do and he’ll learn his lesson.
“There was a lot of emotion in everybody, the players, the manager. I think you have to take that into consideration as well.”
Former Celtic defender John Mjallby was also on the programme and he appeared to offer a defence of Cerny’s actions.
The former Sweden international said: “I agree with Alan. You have to remember, the criticism has been quite heavy.
“When you work in staff or as a player, it’s just a relief that you have proven yourself, proven people wrong, it’s the best kind of medicine.
“Sometimes you get a wee bit too over-excited, I can accept that.”
Host Currie rounded-off the chat by saying: “As soon as I saw him do it, I thought he must be away at the end of the season, he’s going to get himself in a lot of trouble.”
