The Reddit user showed how their blue car’s bonnet had a huge mystery dent in the middle.
Thankfully the unusual reason was revealed as they “found this note on the windshield.”
The note blamed a cat for the damage and was hugely apologetic.
It read: “I am very sorry about your hood.
“My cat fell off my 14th floor balcony and landed on your hood.
“Please call at [blurred contact information].
“Again, I am so sorry.”
People were left amazed at the incident and rushed to the comments.
One said: “That sucks all around! Poor kitty!”
Another added: “Good on them to let you know what happened and offer their contact information.
“I’m sure they were devastated but still thought about you and your property also.”
A third chimed in: “Dude…. Look at the dent. It spent all 9 on this one.”
The question on most people’s lips was whether the cat had survived the fall.
Sadly the story didn’t have a happy ending for the moggy.
The car owner replied in the comments saying: “No it did not [survive].
“I was on my way to work when I saw the note and hood.

“I called the owners who were understandably going through it.
“The cat smashed the hood, bounced and landed about 15 or so feet from the truck.
“Apparently the cat had been given medication that could cause dizziness.
“The owners didn’t think about how every night the cat would walk the ledge of the balcony.

What do you legally need to do if you dent another car?
IN the UK, if you dent or damage another car—whether it’s in a car park, on the road-you are legally required to take the following steps..
1. Stop and assess the damage
Under the Road Traffic Act 1988, you must stop if you have caused damage to another vehicle, property, or person. Failing to stop is an offence known as “failure to stop after an accident,” which can result in penalties.
2. Leave your details
You must give the following information to the owner of the damaged vehicle: name, address, vehicle registration number.
3. Speak to your insurance
Even if the damage seems minor, you should inform your insurance company as soon as possible so your policy isn’t invalidated.
4. Contact the police (in some circumstances)
If you can’t contact the owner, you must report the accident to the police within 24 hours.
