One Piece: Oda’s Greatest Red Herring With Loki Might Split the Fandom but I Feel That’s the Right Way Ahead

Loki’s Devil Fruit, which he killed his own father for, is the greatest mystery in the Elbaph Arc. Eiichiro Oda loves to tease before the final big reveal or introduce some sort of plot twist into One Piece. It’s what keeps the story fresh and interesting and now Loki is at the center of it.

Loki’s powers have been foreshadowed for a while. The Elbaphians are scared of him, warning Luffy not to engage. He’s also earned himself a rare special bounty of 2.6 billion berries. He also claims to be the Sun God and claims to have a Devil Fruit but he’s already strong enough with Ragnir.

There’s too much going on about him and weekly chapters of One Piece have made fans, including me, impatient. A lot about Loki doesn’t make sense. The way he presents himself and all the hearsay about him contradict each other. The most likely conclusion is that he’s been deceiving us all along and his true nature will be revealed.

Loki has no Devil Fruit, he’s been tricking Elbaph and giving them someone to blame

I can’t deny that I have no idea what Loki’s intentions are. In the latest chapter, he summoned lightning which started a fire on the south side of Elbaph. That doesn’t exactly scream innocent but it showed us a glimpse of his power.

14 years ago, Loki killed King Harald and around 100 other Elbpah warriors single-handedly. At 10 years old, he used to destroy villages for fun. This was well before he allegedly got his Devil Fruit. Moreover, he’s survived being imprisoned in the Underworld for 6 years and stood up after being severely injured.

Knowing all of these facts makes one thing clear: Loki is stronger than most Devil Fruits users. He doesn’t need a legendary Devil Fruit, let alone a duplicate of Luffy’s. So why are civilians saying he killed King Harald for his power?

We barely know enough about the King other than he preached peace and was wise. However, he may have gotten greedy. This theory suggests that he was willing to trade with the World Government themselves. It would explain why there’s a summoning circle in the treasure room instead of treasure.

Elbaph also worships Nika, perhaps their national treasure was the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. Harald gave the World Government the Devil Fruit in exchange for something else and it ended up with Who’s-Who. This caused a fight and Loki perhaps witnessed Harald’s actions and death.

He claimed to eat the Devil Fruit and kill his father, labeled as the “Accursed Prince.” He deceived others so that he could shoulder the blame, maintain his father’s idealistic image, and not trigger a war.

One Piece doesn’t need to introduce a new legendary Devil Fruit

If Loki was a red herring all this time and there was no Devil Fruit, fans might react badly. One Piece, however, is in the Final Saga. Introducing a new legendary one would make it repetitive.

A duplicate of Luffy’s Devil Fruit would also make no sense to Vegapunk’s logic. He states that each of them embodies a different dream. If this Devil Fruit isn’t unique, then Eiichiro Oda was just saying arbitrary stuff.

I believe this might be the right course because Loki would be a great asset to Luffy. It also continues to keep the story unpredictable. It would be a new take on the Trickster God. We usually see Loki deceiving others for evil, now it would be for shouldering responsibility.
