Notorious child rapist arrested after weeks on the run for failing to tell gardai new address following prison release

ONE of Ireland’s most notorious child rapists has been arrested by Gardai, the Irish Sun can reveal.

Monster Stephen ‘Rossi’ Walsh, 77, had been on the run since December after failing to notify Gardai of his new address.

Walsh – a former member of Martin ‘The General’ Cahill’s gang – had been staying in the Trim area of Co Meath after his release from prison last November.

He was released after serving almost 15 years for targeting two women when they were children.

Under the terms of his release, he had to notify Gardai of his address every 24 hours after claiming he was homeless.

But a manhunt was launched for the paedo – who’s on the sex offenders register for life – after he failed to contact Gardai.

He was eventually caught on January 30 when he was stopped in a car being driven by another man in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin.

The Irish Sun also understands the driver has known Rossi for some time.

Walsh is due to appear in court tomorrow charged with failing to notify Gardai of his address.

A source said: “This man is nothing more than a sexual predator who was doing his best to remain in hiding.

“He now knows that if he fails to comply with the conditions of his release he will be arrested.”

Walsh was first jailed for ten years in February 2010 for raping brave survivor Ruth Dunne when she was nine.

The brave Dublin woman waived her right to anonymity to expose his horrific crimes.

The fiend — who was also a close associate of convicted paedo and gang boss Christy Griffin — received another ten-year sentence in 2011 for sexually assaulting a different woman as a child.

As part of his release, evil Walsh was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
