They were left shocked when it was a different person in the hot seat.
BBC Scotland News was being hosted by weather presenter Judith Ralston.
The forecaster revealed she had been called in to lead the programme after another host fell ill.
She took to X, formerly Twitter, to announce the shake-up.
Judith wrote: “Due to sickness I’m jumping into the news hot seat at tea time with Joy Dunlop bringing the weather on BBC Scotland News.”
Viewers expressed their surprise after spotting her in the different role.
They reacted on social media after the programme.
But some thought it should be a permanent move.
One person said: “Nearly fell off my seat.”
Another added: “Thought my eyes deceived me when I saw it.”
A third wrote: “Is that a promotion?”
A fourth replied: “Make it permanent”.
And a fifth replied: “About time too.”
