Of all the clans in Naruto, the Otsutsukis are overpowered in every sense. They are the progenitors of chakra and jutsu, as seen in the Shippuden anime. From Dojutsu to Nature Release, an ordinary ninja would be no match for them, which precisely explains this cursed technique in the series.

To put it simply, an overpowered jutsu in the series is a curse in disguise, especially with its limitations according to this theory. The reason behind its weakness has more to do with humanity. But does that mean this jutsu is futile in every sense? Let’s find out.
This overpowered jutsu is an Otsutsuki curse in disguise
The Otsutsuki clan, as we all know, is one of the strongest clans in the series. They are the creators and forebearers of chakra and ninshu, which was then passed down to other shinobi. This also goes for some of the most powerful techniques that were introduced as kekkei-genkai.
From Sharingan to Byakugan, the clan members possessed daunting visual prowess. Some even possess the Rinnegan as seen in Momoshiki, Kaguya, and Hagoromo’s case. But what beats all is their maneuvering and manipulation of all things chakra.
The chakra fruit, for example, is something that only the clan members can do. It can potentially kill humans too, as seen with Haori when the tree drained her of her life force. But that is just the tip of the iceberg considering the clan’s abilities.
The speed, agility, and chakra force puts them on par with other humans. This is precisely why it took the combined efforts of Team 7 to bring Kaguya down. And while there are notoriously strong jutsu in the series, there is but one that was created out of sheer insecurity as this theory suggests.
Most specifically, the Eight Gates remains a god-tier jutsu for many reasons. It knocked Madara out and has the potential to amp up the user’s speed and agility. But there are downsides to it as well, especially with the amount of strain it takes on the user.
Guy was left handicapped as a result, and it was mainly due to burnout. The Eight Gates are constraints that limit chakra flow to prevent humans from reaching a God-like status. The curse here has to do with the user’s physical strain. However, all is not lost as there might be a foolproof approach to it.
The foolproof approach to Eight Gates’ power in Naruto
Where there is a will, there is a way, and Naruto seems to be an embodiment of this idea. There are constraints and limitations everywhere, but that doesn’t stop the characters from reaching the zenith. This is especially true for Rock Lee, who can open the Eight Gates despite his previous injuries.
But the foolproof method has less to do with him and more to do with genetics. Yes, in this case, genes do matter especially if the shinobi is a Senju or a Uzumaki clan member. It counters the cursed aspect of the jutsu interestingly, and here’s how.

It is a known fact that both Senju and Uzumaki clans possess tremendous life force. The latter can make adamantine chains out of their chakra and heal other shinobi. With Senjus, the life force is beyond ordinary as we witnessed in Hashirama’s case.
Both clans are descendants of Asura which makes them advantageous when it comes to chakra control and flow. This mere trait is a counter to the strain and weakness of the Eight Gates. But other than that, it would heighten their speed, senses, and agility during battles.
Overall, Eight Gates is an intimidating jutsu despite its pitfalls and constraints. If the limiters weren’t there, it would be the ultimate KO against the Otsutsuki clan members.
