My heart breaks – Mike Tyson pays tribute to George foreman

Boxing legend Mike Tyson has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of George Foreman, the two-time world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist.

“My heart breaks,” Tyson shared after news broke of Foreman’s death at age 76. “He was more than a fighter—he was a warrior, a mentor, and a true legend in and outside the ring.”

Tyson, who grew up admiring Foreman’s dominance in the heavyweight division, spoke about how Foreman’s career inspired an entire generation of fighters.

“George wasn’t just a champion—he was a symbol of resilience. He came back when the world thought he was done and became the oldest heavyweight champion at 45. That’s legendary.”

Beyond the sport, Tyson reflected on Foreman’s transition from boxing to ministry and business, particularly his famous George Foreman Grill.

“He reinvented himself. He showed us that there’s life beyond the ring, that a fighter can be more than just his punches. I admired that.”

Tyson also recalled Foreman’s role in bridging the divide between some of boxing’s biggest names.

“He always had this peaceful energy. He was a guy who could bring Ali and Frazier together. That was George—tough in the ring, but a gentle giant in real life.”
