“Maybe her husband cheated on her”: Azealia Banks ‘Avada Kedavras’ J.K. Rowling With the Most Diabolical Attack That Has No Counter

It looks like the American rapper and songwriter Azealia Banks, who was previously criticized for her transphobic remarks, has dusted off her drama crown. And now, wishing to shift the spotlight of controversy from over her, Banks seemingly pointed her scepter at none other than J.K. Rowling—another woman criticized for her transphobic views.

In a plot twist, no one asked for, Azealia Banks, who has had her fair share of problematic headlines, decided to channel her energy into a full-blown “Avada Kedavra” at the Harry Potter author. The rapper suggested Rowling’s disdain for the trans community might stem from her ex-husband’s alleged affair with a trans woman.

Just when you thought the world of celebrity drama couldn’t get any messier, Azealia Banks took center stage. The rapper, known for making headlines with her own controversial takes on the trans community, decided to throw shade at J.K. Rowling, for her share of transphobic views. Why? Because Banks has a theory that Rowling’s disdain for the trans community might have a deeply personal twist.

In a truly eyebrow-raising move, Azealia Banks suggested that J.K. Rowling’s first husband might have cheated on her with a trans woman. After a user shared a post on X celebrating Rowling’s legacy, Banks took to the comment section to drop the brutal remark about the Harry Potter author getting cheated on by a trans woman, leading her to dedicate her life to hating the entire trans community.

Now, let’s not forget the irony here. Azealia Banks herself hasn’t exactly been a pillar of progressive views. She has previously faced backlash for slamming former One Direction star Zayn Malik with transphobic comments in 2013 (via Business Standard). Later on, in 2015, Banks was under fire for a since-deleted tweet calling gay men the “gay white KKK” (via USA Today).

So, seeing her suddenly step onto a moral high horse and make a mic-drop moment, feels rather suspicious. It’s certainly entertaining, but not entirely convincing.

J.K. Rowling clapped back with facts to set the record straight

Despite Azealia Banks’ diabolical remark that was almost difficult to counter, J.K. Rowling toned down the hate with a clever quip. Instead of using harsh words or too much explanation, the author used her literary power to drop a crisp response and reminded the world how her first husband was an abuser, and had nothing to do with trans women.

J.K. Rowling has spoken before about the abuse she endured in her first marriage. She has openly admitted via her website, about being physically assaulted and undergoing a traumatic experience. So, when Azealia Banks decided to toss out wild theories about her transphobic views, Rowling swiftly shut it down by confronting her past.
