TWO houses are being searched as part of a garda probe into the unexplained death of a baby girl.
The Irish Sun has learned the tot was discovered at a property in Meath by uniformed gardai after the alarm was raised with officers on Thursday.
We understand investigating cops are searching two houses in connection with the investigation.
It is understood the baby’s young parents will be spoken to as part of the probe.
Their grandparents and extended family members will also be interviewed.
The baby has been removed to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination, which will take place next week.
The State Pathologist will conduct the post-mortem examination, the results of which gardai have said will determine the course of their investigation.
A local resident told the Irish Sun of the “deep shock” over the news of the baby’s death.
One told us: “It is a very sad situation.
“There is deep shock, and there are a lot of questions.
“It is a terrible tragedy.”
Cops tonight confirmed a probe was underway.
A garda spokesperson told the Irish Sun on Sunday: “Gardai are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby at a residential property in Co. Meath that was reported last night, Thursday 13th March 2025.
“The deceased baby has been removed to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination which will take place in due course.
“The State Pathologist will conduct the post-mortem examination, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
