And so they were delighted when, on St Patrick’s Day, three stars of the show joined together for a drink in the pub, and shared it on social media.
Martin Compston, Adrian Dunbar and Vicky McClure posted a photo to Instagram while enjoying a pint at the pub.
Vicky snapped the shot, and Adrian could be seen sitting beside her.
Meanwhile, Martin positioned himself in the middle and grinned from ear to ear at the camera, while clutching a pint.
The photo was captioned: “St paddy’s day with one of Erin’s finest the gaffer Vicky’s here as well.”
It went down a treat with fans, who were delighted to see the trio together.
One person wrote: “Are you guys hiding a script by any chance?!!”
A second added: “The best trio there has ever been. Now where’s Jed with those scripts have you got him hiding somewhere?”
A third echoed: “Going over new script I hope… can’t wait.”
A fourth commented: “Uh oh, looks like trouble brewing.”
Their reunion comes after Christina Chong, who played DI Nicky Rogerson, revealed the cast have been asked about their availability for later in the year.
Last year Ted Hastings star Adrian Dunbar said that writer Jed Mercurio was working on a new script.
Christina first made her way onto the set as DI Steve Arnott’s (Martin Compston) love interest in the second season.
She returned in 2021 for the sixth and most recent season of the show that follows the police department who sniff out “bent coppers”.
It was revealed that Steve was thinking about leaving AC-12.
Christina, 41, told The Mirror: “So I have been asked about a season, is it seven?
“Yeah. Potentially Nicola Rogerson will be back for season seven.”
Martin recently told The Times that the Line of Duty cast were booked up this year, but added that he’d like to slip back into Steve’s trademark waistcoat soon.
“If there’s a story Jed wants to tell, he’ll come to us. As soon as there’s some news we’ll let you know, but right now there’s nothing there,” he added.
