Liev Schreiber is going into full Papa Bear Mode when it comes to his 16-year-old daughter Kai. The teen — who Schreiber shares with ex Naomi Watts along with 17-year-old son Sasha — just made her runway debut at Paris Fashion Week (not too shabby!) and the internet has a lot to say about it.
Critics believe Kai was only able to walk in Valentino’s Ready to Wear Fall/Winter 2025-2026 fashion show because her parents are celebrities. Yes, they are bringing out the good ol’ nepo baby argument, and the Ray Donovan star was ready to shut it down.
“I don’t really have many thoughts for the haters,” Schreiber told TMZ. “I’m going to put it like this: ‘What if you were a professional actor and your child decided they wanted to do something in this world? Did they have a choice of what you did?’”
No, Kai did not choose for her parents to be award-winning actors and to forever be followed by cries of, “Nepotism!”
“It doesn’t matter, like, that’s her life,” he continued. “She does what she wants with her life and I’m super proud of her. I thought she did an amazing job in the show.”
Earlier this week, both Schrieber and Watts showed how proud they were of their daughter’s “amazing job.” Schrieber posted a photo of his daughter walking down the runway in an animal-print dress with a multicolored feathered neckline, lace stockings, white heels, a skin-colored lace headwrap, and blue-tinted sunglasses.
“Ladies and gentlemen the one, the only, the indomitable @kaischreiberr!” he captioned the post.
Watts also gushed over her youngest. “That’s my @maisonvalentino baby!” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m squealing with pride. Ilysm @kaischreiberrr ❤️.”
Watts’ carousel of photos and videos included backstage footage of Kai doing a little shimmy, a look at her entrance onto the catwalk, and a video in which Watts showed herself crying and repeating, “Oh my god!” as she watched Kai’s debut on her laptop. Followers couldn’t help but drop more heart emojis in the proud mom’s comments.
While we happen to think Sasha looks like a mix of both of his parents, Kai is clearly her mom’s twin. And we know Watts would instantly go to bat for her 16-year-old lookalike just like her ex-husband did. After all, nepo baby or not, she really did do an “amazing job.”
