Lawmakers Push Bill to Remove Gray Wolves from Endangered Species List

Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO-04) and Tom Tiffany (R-WI-07) introduced the Pet and Livestock Protection Act to delist the gray wolf from the Endangered Species Act list.

The bill has the support of 30 co-sponsors. If passed, the legislation would require the secretary of the Interior to reissue the 2020 Interior final rule that delisted wolves in the Lower 48 states. The bill would also ensure that the ruling could not be overturned through judicial review.

“The Pet and Livestock Protection Act will restore management to those who understand local needs best—state wildlife officials—and ensure that out-of-state judges can no longer dictate how Wisconsin manages its wolf population,” Tiffany said.

The bill is supported by ag groups, including the American Farm Bureau Federation, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Public Lands Council and others.
