Kwakye Ofosu explains Dampare’s absence during Mahama’s meeting with outgone security Chiefs

Felix Ofosu Kwakye has explained that the outgone Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service, George Akuffo Dampare PhD, was indisposed when John Dramani Mahama met with outgone security chiefs at the Jubilee House.

President John Dramani Mahama met with former Heads of the Immigration Service, Prisons and Fire Service at the Jubilee House on Monday.

However, the former IGP was missing from photos that were made available on social media on the meeting.

The President in a post on the meeting said “I am grateful to have met with outgoing service commanders Isaac Kofi Egyir (Prisons), Julius A. Kuunuor (Fire), and Kwame Asuah Takyi (Immigration) to express my sincere appreciation for their dedicated service to Ghana. Thank you for your leadership and commitment”.

There were concerns raised about the absence of George Akuffo Dampare.

But speaking on Accra-based GH One TV, Felix Kwakye Ofosu who speaks for the government, indicated that the former IGP put in an excuse duty because he was indisposed.

“The briefing I have is that he put in an excuse duty that he was a bit indisposed on the day because he was part of those who were invited to the presidency for that engagement with the president,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kwakye Ofosu denied knowledge of whether George Akuffo Dampare was offered any Ambassadorial role by the government.
