“Just another role being traumatized”: Breaking Bad Star on Playing the Most Polarizing Character in Invincible Season 3

Aaron Paul is no stranger to playing characters who are often wronged by the people they looked up to, whether it’s Pinkman from Breaking Bad or Todd from Bojack Horseman, especially the former. While Jesse had his fair share of flaws, out of all the mainline characters, he was arguably the only one who was good at heart, which makes his suffering in the show all the more tragic.

Invincible Season 3 does little to shift away from his tragic roots, and the actor, for one, certainly had a blast on the show.

Although Powerblast isn’t exactly the most morally upstanding character like Todd Chavez, similar to Jesse, he is indeed a broken man. Moreover, the instance of him calling out Mark for the death of his sister and her daughter certainly resonates with Jesse’s outburst after he finds out Walt was behind Brock’s poisoning.

Even though we’re aware that Mark was trying to save them, it’s easy to sympathize with Powerplex’s motivations, thanks to the impeccable voice performance from Aaron Paul, who certainly had a blast with the role. When asked about his experience, the actor added (via Rotten Tomatoes):

Just another role being traumatized, you know? Super proud to be a part of that show. I mean, what a masterpiece in animation. They’re just not afraid to just go there.

As for what the future holds for him, given the success of season 3, hopefully, a season 4 return will be in the cards for the Breaking Bad star.

Invincible Season 4 will potentially revive one scrapped comic storyline

For the next season, which could hit the streaming platform next year, Robert Kirkman has entertained the prospect of adapting one of his scrapped storylines from the comics. Considering the author never got around to bringing these characters to hell, with the next season, Kirkman is eying to pit Mark against Satan himself, especially with Damien Darkblood back in the picture (via Comicbook).

Every superhero story has some chapter where they go to hell and they fight the devil. It happens in DC and Marvel comics. It’s a big deal. I never got around to doing anything like that in ‘Invincible.’ I kept getting sidetracked and there was never a good time. So it’s entirely possible that we may be doing something like that in the show, and that scene at the end of that episode is setting that up.

For now, fans can patiently wait for the next installment in the series, which isn’t looking to conclude anytime soon.

Invincible is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
