Jimmy Carr ‘boots drunk heckler out of stand-up gig’ as he calls for security to rush in and remove audience member

COMEDIAN Jimmy Carr kicked a drunk heckler out of his rowdy Birmingham stand-up gig, according to reports.

The 52-year-old took a leaf out of fellow funnyman Peter Kay’s book and enforced a zero tolerance policy for disruptive fans at his Birmingham’s Symphony Hall show on Sunday night.

The Mail reports Jimmy intervened when four audience members threatened to leave the show after growing fed-up with a noisy ticketholder during the first 30 minutes of the performance.

A source told the publication: “Four people got up to leave, and one of them had to be held back from hitting the heckler.

“Then Jimmy intervened, he told the four fans to sit down and said to the heckler, ‘You’re blind drunk, you’re probably on cocaine, so I’ll give you three choices.

“You can either get up and leave, go away and come back and see me again, or you can sit there, refuse to go, and I’ll get security.”

When the offending punter refused to move, Jimmy instructed security to take them out.

He then made a joke about Kay’s recent headline-making decision to kick hecklers out of his gig in Manchester last month, saying: “There must be something in the water at these comedy gigs at the moment.

Phoenix Nights star Kay, 51, got the hecklers ejected from his Better Late Than Never… Again! show after they repeatedly yelled out his “garlic bread” catchphrase.

The Bolton-born comic then compared another fan, who shouted out ‘I love you’, to actress Lisa Riley as she was removed too.

Peter was initially criticised for “nasty and bitter” conduct towards the gig-goers.

But in a statement addressing the incident, he said: “She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn’t realise that was an insult.

“There comes a point when dealing with repeated hecklers simply isn’t enough.

“It’s not something you ever want to do but it becomes a point when it’s no longer fair to everyone around.”

The stand-up previously said he’s “too embarrassed” to buy garlic bread at the supermarket – after the snack became the punchline to one of his best-loved jokes.
