Jennifer Love Hewitt has been working in Hollywood since she was only 10 years old, and the late 1980s and early 1990s were a completely different ballgame than today. For instance, people today have to worry about social media, especially if you’re in the public eye; and that’s exactly what Hewitt is afraid of for her daughter Autumn.
In an interview with InTouch Weekly, Hewitt talked about her hopes for her daughter as she enters the acting world. She said, “Social media has changed so much of everything, and that’s what’s scary for me as a mom. I don’t want Autumn to have everybody giving their opinion on her and who they think she is 24/7. That’s hard on a little person’s spirit, especially when she’s not sure of who she is yet.”
Honestly, that is totally fair. So many parents, both in the public eye or private citizens, have discussed the fear they have with their children in social media. But with a mom like Hewitt, who knows the ins and outs of Hollywood and being a kid in the spotlight, we know Autumn has the best mom to help her navigate all of it.
For those who don’t know, the I Know What You Did Last Summer star and her husband Hallisay have welcomed three kids since tying the knot in Nov 2013.
They welcomed their eldest: a daughter named Autumn James, born in Nov 2013, only a few days after tying the knot. Since then, they’ve also welcomed two sons named Atticus James, born in June 2015, and Aiden James, born in Aug 2021.
In a previous interview with SheKnows, Hewitt even talked about her daughter’s acting career.
“She’s a big 9-1-1 fan. I let her come to work with me sometimes, and so when the little cameo came up on 9-1-1, we were like, ‘Yeah, let’s do it,’” she reminisced. “It was actually right around her birthday, so it was her birthday present to be able to come and be on the show. And then when the movie came up she was like, ‘Well I’m playing one of the kids, right?’”
“Then the fact that it arrived before her 11th birthday, and I got mine when I was 10 — it set me off,” Hewitt added. “I was so happy. It felt very much like my mom would do something like that.”
