Inside Andy Robertson’s secret talks with Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish as he closes in on cap total

ANDY ROBERTSON has revealed he’s been winding up Kenny Dalglish over his bid to shatter his Scotland caps record.

Tartan Army icon King Kenny has made the most international appearances of any Scot with 102.

Liverpool left-back Robbo often sees Dalglish at Anfield and admits he’s told him that he’s in his sights.

Asked about the prospect of a record cap haul, the Scotland captain said: “I’m not denying it, I said it to Kenny the other week. I told him, ‘I’m coming for you!’

“And his reply was, ‘Plenty of players have said that before and I’m still the main man’.

“That’s in typical Kenny fashion.

“But obviously the World Cup campaign is coming up and you have dreams of playing in that.

“That looks after the next two years and then the Euros after that will have games at Hampden.

“You would have dreams of seeing that and playing in that.

“If you are talking about caps, that’s me 33, 34 and then maybe Steve Clarke stops picking me.

“Maybe that’s how it ends!

“Look, we will wait and see but I am just happy to get to 81 caps on Thursday hopefully.”

Robertson would overtake Darren Fletcher and move into third place on the Scotland all-time caps list if he plays against Greece.

Jim Leighton sits second behind Dalglish with 91 caps, while current Scotland stars Craig Gordon and John McGinn have 79 and 73 respectively.
