Roman Reigns has emerged as one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. The OTC is carrying forward the historic lineage of the Anoa’i Family in the business and has been perceived as one of the marquee attractions for the company.
His journey began in 2012 when he was part of The Shield alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. In 2014, he began his transition to a singles career and was largely in the main scene till 2020 but did not garner the fans’ support to that extent. However, his shift by debuting the Tribal Chief character took his career to a whole different level.

Despite being one of the biggest names in the business, Roman Reigns has battled a lot of wars in his personal life. It is no secret that he has survived cancer on more than one occasion. However, according to him, the health issue is just not over yet.
Is Roman Reigns still suffering from cancer?

Roman Reigns was riding the wave of success as a top football player who wanted to make it big in the NFL. However, his health failed him at the time he was ascending in his career. In 2007, when he was only 22 years old, Reigns was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia, or CML.
This led to him undergoing extensive treatment for a while and also being released from his football team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. He returned to playing football after getting better for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL) but only played five matches before taking retirement.
In 2018, after winning the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns came to RAW to reveal that his leukemia was back. Reigns relinquished his title and left the company for a few months to undergo treatment. He returned in February to announce that he was in remission.
However, years later, at the WrestleMania 40 press conference, Roman Reigns revealed that he was still taking oral chemotherapy that will continue for the rest of his life. Reigns clarified that it did not affect his performance in the ring, but it has become a part of his life.
I’m still on oral chemotherapy, it’s a medication that I’m going to have to remain on my entire life most likely. It’s just a part of my personal battle. It doesn’t affect me, thank God, I’m still able to perform. I think anybody in my position would say health is wealth. As long as I continue to perform, you already know that’s at bay. We’re good. We’re still in remission. It is something that is still part of my life.
Roman Reigns has been delivering on the highest level since donning the Tribal Chief persona in 2020. He went on to become World Champion for a record 1,316 days which came to an end at WrestleMania XL at the hands of Cody Rhodes.

Roman Reigns had been absent since the 2025 Royal Rumble event. He was assaulted by his arch nemesis, Seth “Freakin” Rollins at the event when both men were eliminated from the rumble. Later on, it was announced that Reigns will be out of action indefinitely.
However, the wait to see The OTC wa finally over on this week’s edition of RAW, which made its debut on Netflix in January 2025, featuring top stars and celebrities at that show. Reigns returned at the end of the Seth Rollins vs CM Punk Steel Cage match and attacked both men.
He first dragged Rollins out of the ring and took him down with his powerful moves. As he was leaving ringside, the Tribal Chief noticed his Wiseman, Paul Heyman aiding CM Punk. Reigns came into the ring and took down CM Punk as well as a horrified Paul Heyman watched. With The OTC back in the mix, it will be interesting to see his involvment on the road to WrestleMania 41.
WrestleMania 41 is scheduled to take place from 19th to 20th April, 2025 at 7 PM (ET)/4 PM (PT) live on Peacock in the United States and Netflix everywhere else.
