“I don’t want justice. I want vengeance”: Reacher Season 3 Episode 7 Scene Gets Hailed as Alan Ritchson’s ‘Batman Audition Tape’

With castings regarding the DCU making rounds every day, fans have been going wild with potential castings for the next Batman, a role that has often featured some of the brightest talents the showbiz has to offer. While it’s unlikely we’ll hear about an official DCU Batman casting from James Gunn anytime soon, Alan Ritchson is making a great case for himself.

Since the announcement of The Brave and the Bold, Ritchson has been at the forefront of fan castings, and the actor too has been giving it all, especially with his performance in the new Reacher episode.

In terms of physique alone, Alan Ritchson embodies the caped crusader from the comics, which is more apparent from his portrayal of Jack Reacher in the Amazon Prime series. And as if the parallels weren’t evident enough already, in episode 7 of season 3, the actor goes full Batman with his monologue, and fans aren’t shying away from getting behind the prospect of his DCU casting.

However, it’s important to note that Batman is more than just a dark brooding vigilante, as his inner conflict has often served as the basis for some of the most memorable Batman stories ever told. As a result, most Batman castings have leaned towards exceptionally gifted actors, and on that scale, Ritchson is still a bit unproven.

Considering Ritchson has been looking up to the caped crusader since his childhood, the whole crusade from the fans has been a “real honor and privilege for him”. Although James Gunn and the casting directors will have the final call, given his love for the character, Ritchson is even ready to do it for free.

He shared (via Collider):

What’s amazing about this rumor is that James Gunn has come out publicly and said ‘LOL he’s not playing Batman.’ And this thing will not die. I get asked every day if I’m playing Batman. Would I play Batman? Yes. You wouldn’t even have to pay me to be Batman. Yeah I would don the suit. ‘Gotham is mine.’

Hopefully, when the audition buzz for the character commences, Ritchson will be able to prove his doubters wrong with his acting chops.

Reacher is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
