Huge TV schedule shake up this week as ITV soaps are taken off air – the same day as hit BBC shows are ditched

THE ITV soaps look set to be ditched this week as part of yet another schedule shake-up.

It won’t just be Coronation Street and Emmerdale that lose their coveted place on the schedules too with both ITV and BBC facing major shake-ups this Friday.

On ITV, usual programming will be ditched in favour of coverage of the World Cup qualifier.

England will be taking on Albania in the match with a kick-off time of 7:45pm forcing both Emmerdale and Corrie off the screens.

Live coverage of the sporting event’s opening Group K match, held at Wembley Stadium, will begin at 7pm fronted by Mark Pougatch.

However, ITV have made another change to their programming line-up tonight in order to give fans their soap fix.

Emmerdale has been handed an hour-long episode this evening, beginning at 7pm in order to make up for the lost coverage on Friday.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street will broadcast an additional episode this evening too in the later timeslot of 9pm.

Whilst it is the football causing all the mayhem over on ITV this Friday, BBC One has also been forced to ditch many of its shows in order to screen the Comic Relief telethon.

The live charity telecast will air from 7pm this Friday forcing regulars The One Show and Death in Paradise off-air.

It means the Death in Paradise finale will now air on Friday, March 28 at 9pm.

While fans will be disappointed to have to wait a week, the push back does mean they’re in for a double delight on March 28 as the new series of Beyond Paradise, which is also part of the Death in Paradise universe, will begin at 8pm, before the original series’ finale starts at 9pm.

Beyond Paradise is back for its third series, but fans will also get a treat during the Comic Relief telethon.

The news will return at 10pm, before ten minutes of local news will be provided at 10:30pm.

BBC One will then cut back to Comic Relief programming for an hour before an 11:40pm screening of the film, Beetlejuice.
