Huge Scots music star buys favourite hometown pub where he drank before he was famous

CHART-topper Calvin Harris is now a super-bar DJ after snapping up a beloved boozer in his hometown.

The One Kiss star, 41, knocked back pints with pals in The Coach and Horses before going on to global fame.

Now he has gone into business with childhood mate Mark Irving to buy the riverfront inn.

The move has surprised fans of the Dumfries-born hitmaker, who has been sober for a decade.

But a source revealed: “Calvin is proud of where he was raised and has strong ties to his hometown.

“He used to drink in The Coach and Horses before he got famous and there is a signed poster of his first album cover on the wall.

“Calvin and Mark have now taken over and Mark is landlord. They have created a company called To The Nines. It’s a gorgeous little pub with a great atmosphere.

“It’s a great grassroots music venue too, which is something they’re really proud of.

“It’s a hard time for pubs but The Coach and Horses is thriving.”

Punters flock to the boozer to enjoy River Nith views and relax in its beer garden on sunny days.

Former landlord John Owens previously told how Calvin — real name Adam Wiles — was a regular customer.

He said: “Calvin, or Adam, is a very pleasant young chap, always has been. I’ve never heard a bad word said about him.

“He’s always been a very quiet lad. We’re all very proud of him. When he’s home he’ll pop in – if he gets the chance.”

Multi-millionaire Calvin worked as a shelf-stacker in Marks & Spencer before going on to score hits including This Is What You Came For, Dance Wiv Me, Feels and Drinking From The Bottle.

He now owns a posh home in North London with presenter wife Vick Hope and also boasts a farm on the party isle of Ibiza.

But he continues to enjoy his visits home, including to be best man at pal Mark’s wedding in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Brit Award winner is bidding to return to the top of the charts with new single Smoke The Pain Away, released last Friday.

He sings and plays guitar on the track — the first time in 15 years he has used his own vocals.

We told how he and Radio 1 star Vick, 35, tied the knot at a lavish Glastonbury-style bash in 2023.

The couple read their vows outdoors at Hulne Priory, in Alnwick, Northumberland. Guests then boogied to a live performance by Nile Rodgers and Chic, who had flown in from the US.
