Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding is one of the best gaming experiences a gamer or an art lover could ever encounter. The game is an interactive visual masterpiece with its story, soundtrack, voice acting, and even the inclusion of famous actors like Norman Reedus.

One such actor is Mads Mikkelson, who played the role of a tragic antagonist in the game, is being replaced by Luca Marinelli in the upcoming sequel. Let’s delve deeper into this and find out more.
Luca Marinelli is replacing Mads Mikkelson in the upcoming Death Stranding sequel

Death Stranding has been called the pièce de résistance in the gaming industry, and although the gameplay element of the title is a bit slow and tedious, the story and characters will highly impress anyone who is playing the game. Artists like Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelson, Troy Baker and Guillermo del Toro have huge roles in Death Stranding.
Now that the upcoming sequel of Death Stranding has been announced back in December of 2022, fans are more excited than ever to see which actors Kojima will bring in for the sequel. In a recent tweet from Kojima on X (formerly Twitter) he revealed that Luca Marinelli will be playing the role of Neil in the game.
In his tweet, Kojima reveals that he fell in love with Marinelli’s antagonistic acting in the Italian film They Call Me Jeeg and Martin Eden. Through the promotion of the latter film, Kojima got in contact with Marinelli and decided to give him the role of Neil, who would essentially replace Cliff, played by Mads Mikkelson, from the story. According to Kojima, fans would not be satisfied if the casting for Neil did not surpass Mikkelson.
During the pandemic, I was casting for DS2. Neil would be an important role that replaces Cliff from DS1. The fans would not be satisfied unless the casting would surpass Mads.
This suggests that Neil will play a huge role in the upcoming Death Stranding 2 title, a role that would be as important as Cliff’s, and casting Luca Marinelli for the part was a great decision from Kojima’s side, considering Marinelli also looks exactly like Solid Snake if he dons a bandana.
Marinelli’s character will probably play a pivotal role in the game

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is currently one of the most anticipated games in the entire industry. The title is supposed to continue on with the previous story, and while no one can replace Mads Mikkelson from the first game, we are quite hopeful for what Luca Marinelli will offer as the smuggling crime-lord in the game.
The sequel is set to be released for the PlayStation 5 on June 26 of this year, and players who buy the deluxe version of the game will receive the title two days earlier. While we are still unsure how the story will progress with the new characters, one thing we are sure of is that the upcoming sequel won’t disappoint fans of the series.
