Actor Ewan McGregor is best known for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise. Despite his typically chill off-screen persona, McGregor seemingly lost his cool during an interaction with a photographer while filming on-location for one of his projects. Ewan McGregor debuted in the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1999, with the first installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The role shot McGregor to superstardom that few other actors from his generation have seen. As a result, it is only natural for media and journalists to keep tabs on the actor’s upcoming projects.
In 2020, McGregor was filming a scene with co-star Kelly Bishop for his Netflix series Halston, in the Central Park region of New York City. According to a report from The Sun, the actor became involved in a nasty altercation with photographer Steve Sands as video footage of McGregor hurling abuses spread across the internet.

McGregor allegedly stated the above as he snapped at the photographer, who was present on set to take behind-the-scenes photographs of the then-upcoming project.
The incident proved that all the Jedi wisdom in the world could not prevent McGregor from having an outburst on the set despite being otherwise known for having a cool personality. Moreover, Sands admitted that he was at fault for the incident and did not blame the actor for losing his cool.
Ewan McGregor Went to Court Over Photos Clicked By Paparazzi
McGregor’s altercation with Sands wasn’t his only bad experience with paparazzi photographers as the Doctor Sleep actor even went to court over some photographs. In 2003, when McGregor was at the peak of his popularity thanks to the George Lucas-directed prequel trilogy, he filed a privacy lawsuit in England.
According to a report from People, McGregor had gone to court against a French photo agency to stop them from publishing photos of his two children taken without his consent. McGregor’s daughters Clara and Esther Rose, from his first wife Eve Mavrakis, were photographed during the family’s vacation in Mauritius.
The report also revealed that McGregor had asked the agency to not photograph his children and only pursued legal action after his request was ignored. McGregor eventually won the lawsuit, leading to financial compensation from the agency and the publications that had printed the family’s photos. As a result, it is safe to say that McGregor is very strict about his family’s privacy.
