THE cast of Gogglebox joined the growing backlash against Meghan Markle’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan – mocking her approach to hosting guests in her Montecito mansion.
During the latest episode, the armchair critics didn’t hold back as they reacted to a clip from the show of her preparing bath salts for a visitor.

In one scene Meghan, 43, detailed how she meticulously prepares for visitors staying at her home, preparing them “a tea bag for the bath”.
In the aired snippet, Meghan warmly explains: “Whenever I have someone come and stay, one of my favourite things to do is to prep the guest room.”
This was met with instant sarcasm from the Gogglebox cast, with Sophie scoffing she gives “a quick sniff of the duvet cover” when guests stay over.
As Meghan continued describing the guest experience, saying she carefully considers “what’s at the side of the bed for them” and what luxurious bath salts to provide, the cast were left baffled by her attention to detail.
Another moment that drew eye rolls from the Gogglebox stars was when Meghan spoke about her close friendship with her longtime makeup artist, Daniel Martin.
She described him as “a mainstay” in her life, adding: “Uncle Daniel, the kids call him.”
This didn’t sit well with Gogglebox regular Izzi Warner, who shot back: “Well, what about Uncle William? What happened to him?” in a clear reference to Meghan’s ongoing rift with her husband’s family and Prince William.
The Gogglebox stars also weren’t sold on Meghan’s highly curated hosting style, with Sophie adding: “Do you know what I say when people come and stay here? ‘Help yourselves, treat this as though it’s your own house.’
“So then I’m not getting up like a mug to make a brew every five minutes, yeah. You want a biscuit? Go and f*ing get one.”
However, Tina Malone loved Meghan’s bath salts recipe of epsom salts, himalayan salts and lavender drops, adding: “I’ve got all that in me cupboard, I knew me and Meghan could be besties!”
But while Meghan’s lavish hospitality was meant to showcase warmth and care, many viewers—including Gogglebox fans—felt it came across as self-indulgent and performative.
The internet flooded with memes and reactions mocking the show, and it seems the Duchess of Sussex’s attempt to connect with audiences through home comforts may have backfired.
Gogglebox viewers at home waded in, and one said: “If we’ve now watched that dreadful Meghan programme via #gogglebox, does that mean we don’t have to watch it for real?”
Another said: “This Meghan is as false as a four pound note. #gogglebox”
During the show, Meghan and Daniel are all smiles as they whip up some tasty dishes together, including a pasta dish and a sumptuous cake topped with raspberries.
As well as dishing up grub, the duo also get crafty and make beeswax candles, using the wax from Meghan’s own hive.
But the make-up artist wasn’t the only one of Meghan’s close pals to make an appearance on the show – actress Mindy Kaling also starred in one episode and caused a stir when she didn’t use Meghan’s married name.
“It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle.
“You know I’m Sussex now,” Meghan said to Mindy.
Meghan and Harry have attracted criticism for only visiting Sussex once when they held several engagements seven years ago.
But speaking to People magazine in the US, Meghan now claims the title is important to her.
She said: “It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children.
“I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”
The Sussex name, she adds, “is part of our love story”.
Meghan and Harry are also the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton but rarely use the title and are not expected to pass it onto Archie.
They are banned as part of the Megxit agreement from using their “Sussex Royal” brand although the website remains.
And last year they set upThe Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with a coat of arms for Meghan.
