God of War Ragnarök Pays Tribute to Its Roots With an Epic Dark Odyssey Anniversary Celebration

God of War is celebrating its 20th anniversary on March 22, 2025. It’s been twenty whole years since we first embarked on Kratos’ legendary journey. To honor this milestone, Santa Monica Studio is rolling out the Dark Odyssey Collection for God of War Ragnarök, a free update that pays homage to the franchise’s origins.

We can also look forward to exclusive anniversary-themed content, including in-game rewards and digital collectibles. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming content.

The Dark Odyssey Collection will be an update for all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation and PC on March 20, 2025. This update includes a full set of armor and weapon appearances, bringing back the black-and-gold aesthetic from God of War II.

The update is inspired by God of War’s original working title, Dark Odyssey, and features a design similar to the God of War II armor that players could unlock by completing the game on God Mode difficulty. We wonder if the rumored remakes and remasters will also be announced.
