Good Morning America’s Ginger Zee has no time for the nonsense! The meteorologist clapped back at a social media troll who criticized her appearance.
Ginger, 44, shared the interaction via a screenshot posted on Threads on Tuesday, March 11.
“You’re not aging well,” someone told her in a comment.
“What a privilege to be aging in any manner — thanks for your opinion though,” she responded.
“You know you are in a good place when you genuinely believe your response. And I do. What a privilege to be able to be alive,” she wrote alongside the screenshot. “No matter how you perceive my aging, I’m proud of it.”
Many people came to Ginger’s defense underneath the post, including NBC’s Vicky Nguyen, who wrote, “Classy and perfect and true response Ginger!”
“When I get terrible comments like that, I also wonder what is going on in that person’s life to attack a complete stranger,” another said. “You had an excellent response though!”
“You’re gorgeous and sexy and smart. Keep up the amazing work you do. I am a big fan. I look forward to your reporting every morning,” a third person commented.
“It shouldn’t matter, but I just saw you doing the weather, and I thought ‘Damn, what a stunning, passionate, intelligent, and personable professional woman!’ I loved your response because you should be proud,” another person remarked.
“You’re a beautiful woman and human being. I’ve been watching you for a long time; are you really aging? If so, you’re aging gracefully. People hate for whatever reason, screw them. To he’ll with the naysayers,” another supporter said.
This isn’t the first time Ginger has spoken out after being ridiculed online. In July 2021, she shared a video on X changing from a T-shirt and jeans into a dress before hitting the GMA stage.
“Look what she made me do… the transformation is REAL this morning as I’m back in the studio at @GMA big thanks to Merylin & Andrea for the transformation,” she captioned the video.
One person left a comment that said, “I wish Hollywood would stop putting pressure on women to be this skinny.”
“Hmmm I rarely get called skinny (athletic more often) —have a BMI of around 21 — I would think this is about right for me :),” she said in a reply at the time, per People. “I’ve weighed the same (barring pregnancy) for almost two decades. Definitely not Hollywood.”
Another person responded, saying, “I wish people would stop criticizing people for their looks.”
Ginger stepped in to say, “Unfortunately that feels like a long way off.”
The TV personality also spoke out about facing body image issues in an October 2022 Instagram post.
“I know I’m privilege to be able to walk on a treadmill, to walk in general, to have crackers and cookie cake. I know so many would be so happy to have my body. And while body positivity is all the rage, the obsession with being thin is concurrently rampant,” she said. “This is a process and an evolution. This morning I had the thought: I just wish I could start over. Start fresh at work, start fresh with my body image… but then I wouldn’t be me. And the me I am now I am I am genuinely proud of and wouldn’t want to change.”
