MANY might have forgotten he’s still a Celtic player given he hasn’t played for the Hoops since December 2023.
But Marco Tilio is still very much in the thoughts of fans back in his homeland Australia – after earning a surprise recall to the Socceroos squad this week.

And Tilio, 23, has revealed he’s in the process of weighing up his future at Celtic after making his return to the international setup for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The attacker hasn’t played for Australia in over a year but he’s been included in Tony Popovic’s 26-man squad for the upcoming clashes against Indonesia and China.
Tilio broke the A-League transfer record when he joined Celtic from Melbourne City in a deal worth £1.5million in the summer of 2023.
He was tipped for big things in Glasgow following his stunning breakthrough in Melbourne but he failed to live up to the hype at Parkhead.
He made just two appearances for the club and found himself spending most of his time on the treatment table with a serious hamstring injury which left him struggling to get up to speed.
The 23-year-old was then far down the pecking order when he finally made his return to Lennoxtown and was then shipped back to Australia for regular game time at his former club Melbourne City.
The stunning return didn’t quite go to plan though as he was once again hit with various setbacks and only made five appearances in the second half of last season’s A-League campaign between February and April last year.
He also missed 10 games earlier this season with another hamstring injury as well.
But thankfully Tilio now seems to be back in the fold and has become a key player for the City Football Group club once again.
And now the seven-cap Aussie will hope to finally kickstart his international career this month too.
Tilio is due to return to Glasgow at the end of the season but things could change between now and then.
That’s because the winger has hinted that he could cut ties with Celtic for good with a permanent exit potentially on the cards.
Asked whether there have been any discussions over his future, Tilio said: “There has been a little bit of chat but nothing concrete or anything yet.
“It’s still early on, I’ve got about three months to go and I’ve only just started coming back into the team.
“I’m sure in the next couple of months the conversations will start to ramp up and I guess we’ll see where it goes from there.”
