A WOMAN in her 40s whose sudden death in Co Derry led to a major police probe last week has been pictured for the first time.
PSNI officers are looking into the “full circumstances” surrounding the death of Jolene McDaid last Sunday.
A 38-year-old man was initially arrested following the incident, but has been released on bail upon further enquiries.
Detectives said in an initial statement: “Detectives are investigating the sudden death of a woman in the Kilrea area.
“The woman, aged in her 40s, was sadly pronounced dead on Sunday 9 March.
“A man, aged 38, arrested in connection with the investigation remains in custody at this time.
“Officers are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death. Further details will be provided in due course.”
Jolene has been remembered as a “loving mother” who will be “sadly missed” by her family.
Her funeral is set taking place in Limavady today at 1pm, with a graveside service at Enagh Cemetery, Co Derry.
Her death notice reads: “Much loved daughter of Marlene and Vincent, loving mother of Josh, dear sister of Vinnie, Anthony, Christle, Glen and the late James – also a loving auntie.
“Jolene will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her entire family circle.”
Jolene’s family are asking for any donations to be made to the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.
Many have taken to social media to share heartbreaking tributes following her tragic death.
‘I HOPE YOU’RE AT PEACE’
One friend said: “What a shock to find out the loss of a beautiful friend with a beautiful soul.
“Words can not express how loved you were and how much you will be sadly missed by many.
“Thank you for always being there for me over the years and for the support you gave me.”
A family member added: “I can’t even try to imagine a life without you in it.
“I wish I could wake up and for it to all be a bad dream.
“Rest easy beautiful, I hope you’re at peace. I love you sis️.”
