AS we shiver through another cold spell, thoughts turn to sunny days ahead.
And for families, the upcoming Easter and May half-term holidays offer the chance to get some much needed sun and sand fun.

But with budgets tight and many of us watching every penny, is it possible to head abroad for less than £1,000 for a family of four?
The answer is yes! We’ve asked the experts to come up with cracking deals that will cost from just £200 per person, based on a family of four sharing a room.
Majorca is the cheapest destination for seven-night family holidays departing between April 5 and 20, according to price comparison giant TravelSupermarket.
A holiday to the Balearic island will cost an average of £467.44, followed by Sardinia with an average of £469.14 and Costa Blanca at £473.15.
In the May half term, Lanzarote is the cheapest destination with an average price of £642.67, followed by Malta at £707.35 and Fuerteventura at £753.08, Travelsupermarket found.
Here, we’ve come up with some even better value deals – all for a family of four – that are available to book now.
With different dates for the Easter break depending on where you live, it may well be worth travelling to an airport further away to grab a better deal.
For example, schools in the North East are off from April 14, while those in the South East are off from April 2 and North West from April 4.
Flying from an airport while schools have yet to break up – or have already gone back – could see you grab big savings.
It’s also worth looking at five or six-night getaways – with lots of destinations just a two or three-hour flight away there’s still plenty of time for a decent break.
