Donald Trump’s private plane departs Ayrshire airport following attack on Turnberry resort

DONALD Trump’s private plane has departed Scotland following an overnight stay in Ayrshire.

The US President’s private Boeing 757 was photographed on the tarmac at Prestwick Airport on Saturday morning before taking off for a return trip to the United States.

It is understood that his son Eric Trump, who has overseen Mr Trump’s golfing interests since 2017, visited the Trump Turnberry resort as part of his trip to Scotland.

Eric arrived unexpectedly at Edinburgh Airport last Thursday aboard the branded jet, just days after the family’s Turnberry golf complex was vandalised.

Last week, shocking expletives and derogatory insults were scrawled in red paint across the Ayrshire coastal resort in what appeared to be a targeted attack on the former US President.

The exterior of the resort’s clubhouse was defaced with red paint, covering walls and windows, while the phrase “F*** Trump” was sprayed on the entrance gates.

Additionally, the words “Gaza is not for sale” were sprayed on the golf course itself, and at least four of its meticulously maintained greens were damaged.

However, it is understood that Eric Trump’s trip to Scotland had been planned prior to the vandalism at the Ayrshire resort.

Police revealed previously that a 33-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the alleged incident, which occurred on Sunday, March 8.

Trump Turnberry described the attacks as “childish”.

A spokesman for the resort stated: “This was a childish, criminal act, but the incredible team at Trump Turnberry will ensure it does not impact business.

“Turnberry is a national treasure and will continue to be the number one beacon of luxury and excellence in the world of golf.”

During his three-day trip, Eric Trump reportedly held a private meeting with John Swinney, during which both parties claimed to have discussed only golf.

The First Minister and the head of Trump International steered clear of political topics, despite previous tensions between Donald Trump and the Scottish Government.

The meeting occurred just days after Mr Swinney called for the cancellation of Donald Trump’s invitation for a state visit to the UK.

The First Minister faced criticism for hosting the meeting from the Scottish Greens.

Party co-leader Lorna Slater described the meeting as “a bad call which sends a terrible message”.

She said: “This meeting is totally inappropriate. Eric Trump is not a normal businessman.

“He is a right-wing extremist who has peddled misinformation and conspiracy theories.

“He represents an administration that has been complicit in wrecking our planet, cosying up to Vladimir Putin, and showing utter contempt for human rights and democracy.”

But we told how senior government sources stated that there was no reason for Mr Swinney not to meet with Eric Trump, given his significant business interests in Scotland.

The senior executive helps manage the two golf courses owned by the Trump family in Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire.

As part of Eric’s visit, he also toured the Trump International Golf Links property in Aberdeenshire to oversee progress on a highly anticipated new championship course, scheduled to open this summer.

The new course is designed to complement the existing world-renowned championship links.

Once completed, the two courses will combine to establish what the Trump Organisation describes as “The Greatest 36 Holes in Golf”.

Speaking about the development, Eric Trump said: “I enjoyed an unbelievably successful trip to Trump International Scotland at Aberdeen as we put the final touches on the greatest 36 holes on earth.”

Sarah Malone, Executive Vice President of Trump International Scotland, added: “The Trump family’s unwavering commitment to this property and their continued investment in Scotland is truly inspiring.

“The new course is already incredibly well established, and it won’t be long before golfers from around the world get to experience the greatest 36 holes in golf first-hand.”

Trump International has been approached for comment.
