Prior to the 2016 presidential election, Jon Cryer, most notable for starring alongside Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men, drew an interesting correlation between Donald Trump and his former co-star. Although the actor often avoided delving into politics, he was right on the money with his remarks on the whole Trump affair.

Having witnessed Sheen’s shenanigans firsthand during his Two and a Half Men years, Cryer highlighted one parallel between the Platoon star and the Home Alone star and even deemed the latter the Charlie Sheen of politics.
Jon Cryer highlighted one common trait between Charlie Sheen and Donald Trump
While their early years together in Two and a Half Men were mostly smooth, things took a turn for the worse in the latter seasons. Although Charlie Sheen‘s alleged substance and alcohol abuse, accompanied by his infamous outburst against the showrunner, did contribute to his departure, the actor continued to enjoy a dedicated fanbase.

Jon Cryer, who was devastated by the entire debacle at the time, compared Sheen’s infamous antics to that of Donald Trump, adding, “Whenever he [Sheen] said whatever came to the top of his head, people loved it!”.
During his appearance on the Never Not Funny podcast, the actor further elaborated on this subject and drew parallels between Sheen’s alleged addiction to drugs with Trump’s apparent addiction to “feeling important.”
I have been pointing out, and I have been screaming to the rooftops, that Donald Trump is the Charlie Sheen of politics … I have to tell you, I love Charlie Sheen, I loved working with him when he was sober, but he was, he’s full of shit. He has been full of shit, he has serious addiction. His addiction is obviously serious, drugs, and, but, Trump is just addicted to feeling important.
Furthermore, Cryer even warned people to avoid picking “the president based on entertainment value.” As for his viewpoint on recent affairs (via TMZ), the Two and a Half Men star isn’t exactly optimistic about the next four years.
Jon Cryer couldn’t be happier about Charlie Sheen’s growth since the fallout

Sheen, on the other hand, did turn things around for himself, thanks to one incident with his daughter, which pushed the actor to become sober. Moreover, the Platoon star has reconciled his bond with showrunner Chuck Lorre, and Cryer couldn’t be more happy about his co-star’s growth since the 2011 fallout (via EW).
Oh, gosh. I don’t know how that happens. Charlie is doing a lot better now, which is wonderful. He and I have not spoken in a few years, but he’s doing a lot better, which obviously I’m very happy about.
But despite being euphoric about Sheen’s growth, Cryer isn’t exactly looking forward to joining forces with the actor anytime soon.
Two and a Half Men is available to stream on Peacock.
