HEARTBREAKING tributes have been paid to a motorcyclist who died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Wexford on Saturday evening.
Paul O’Brien, 57, of Old Court, Adamstown, Co Wexford passed away at the scene of the single-vehicle smash near Taghmon in Co Wexford around 6.50pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford, where a postmortem took place.
Locals said he was a gentleman always up for the craic and was affectionately known as Sprat.
Paying tribute, his niece Caithlin wrote: “Heart is broken over uncle sprat”.
Another one said: “He will be missed by all and he will never be forgotten. May he rest in Peace.”
The Adamstown Agricultural Show, which Paul was a committee member of, also extended it’s sympathy.
It said: “Our heartfelt condolences to committee member Micheal O’Brien and the extended O’Brien and Kavanagh families on the sad and sudden loss of Paul. O
“ur thoughts and prayers are with you all. May Paul rest in peace”.
Paul is survived by his partner Pauline, children Donna, Aaron and Nathan and father Michael.
His remains will repose at his residence today from 12pm to 9pm and again tomorrow from 12pm to 9pm.
His funeral mass will take place on on Thursday at 12noon in St Abban’s Church Adamstown with burial afterwards in St Abban’s cemetery.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 7pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai.
