Demon Slayer Theory is Koyoharu Gotouge’s Boldest Lie: The Blue Spider-Lily Is a Myth Meant to Send Muzan on a Wild Goose Chase

The popular anime series Demon Slayer is almost at an end after entertaining fans for years. While the show had kept a constant flow of content for the past few years with new releases, they have opted to release the much anticipated Infinity Castle Arc with a trilogy movie series.

In any case, the hype in the fandom for the upcoming releases has been wild. Inevitably, with the show almost at an end, the fandom has gotten to scrutinize the storyline from the beginning again and again.

As such, new theories are also making it out into the world as the release date draws near. One such theory happens to be so wild, that fans are convinced that there might just be some truth to that.

A wild Demon Slayer theory suggests Koyoharu Gotouge sent the fans on a wild goose chase along with Muzan for years

Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer has turned into one of the most popular manga and anime series of all time. The compact and thrilling storyline has been as much a reason behind it, as the Ufotable Studio’s spectacular animation.

After years of nonstop entertainment, though, the series is finally beginning to close in on the end with the Infinity Castle Arc slated to release this year as per Screen Rant. As such, the fandom has been rampant with theories about the series in the past few months.

One particular theory, though, is so wild that it has made many fans stop and take a second look at the story from the beginning. Especially as it seems like the fans have been as much a central figure in that, as the series’ antagonist Muzan Kibutsuji.

The subject of the theory, too, has caused intrigue as it remains to be one of the biggest unanswered questions in Demon Slayer. That is, about the Blue Spider Lily flower. Fans of the show are aware that the original demon, Muzan Kibutsuji, has been in search of the elusive flower for more than a thousand years.

However, even after searching high and low in all corners of the world, and creating numerous demons, he is yet to find the mythical flower. Now, obviously fans have waited for a glimpse of said flower with just as much anticipation.

A new theory, though, suggests that the myth of the Blue Spider Lily, might have been just that. A myth. Moreover, it might have been a farce spread to mislead Muzan for hundreds of years by none other than his greatest enemy Yoriichi Tsugikuni.

According to the theory, the plan might have been to keep the creator of the demon clan distracted while the Demon Slayers keep coming at his troops, until one day they gain victory.

As such, if the theory turns out to be true, it would mean that mangaka Koyoharu Gotouge has not only sent Muzan but also the fandom on a wild goose chase that would have always ended with nothing.

Koyoharu Gotouge might have pulled one of the boldest stunts in anime according to a new theory

Although the theory sounds too good to be true in the bleak world of Demon Slayer, there might be proofs substantiating it all this while. For example, there has only ever been one demon known to brave and conquer the sunlight in history. That is, Nezuko Kamado, the beloved sister of our protagonist Tanjiro Kamado.

That too, after an insane feat of trying to sacrifice herself to make sure her brother saves innocent lives instead of worrying about her. Although Nezuko had always been a little different compared to other demons, with some of her humanity still intact, this was an unthinkable action for a demon.

Especially because most of them were driven by greed or a lust for power, much like Muzan. This sacrificial streak, and a lack of personal ambition at all costs was also the very thing that Muzan hated the most about humans.

As such, if the theory turns out to be true, it would mean Muzan had prepared his deathbed by himself with his arrogance. As he believed himself to be above all humans, he was outwitted by the “human will,” like Kagaya Ubuyashiki explained to him before sacrificing himself and his family in a feat of blazing glory.

Perhaps if Muzan had fought to maintain his humanity like Nezuko, he could have mastered the Sun as well as a demon-human hybrid and lived to tell the tale for centuries.

Instead, he went around the world chasing a non-existent flower as a relic of his past freedom, only to find his greatest quest has been the greatest irony in Demon Slayer.
