Created by Dario Scardapane, Matt Corman, and Chris Ord, Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. The show is said to be the revival and continuation of Daredevil, which premiered on Netflix from 2015 to 2018. Daredevil: Born Again saw the return of Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, and others.

The first season, which consists of nine episodes, received a positive response from the critics and the audience upon release. The critics described the show as wonderfully complex and tied the revival series to its former Netflix world. Fans also pointed out one similarity between Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man.
Daredevil: Born Again makes New York City feel alive like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man
Filmmaker Sam Raimi directed the first installment of the Spider-Man trilogy in 2002, which starred Tobey Maguire as the leading man. The movie, upon release, received a positive response, with critics praising the performance, storyline, direction, and more.
One thing that was also appreciated at the time was how the filmmaker maintained and showcased New York City. It has been said that no superhero movie has managed to show NYC the way Sam Raimi did.

New York City is the home of many of Marvel’s most iconic heroes, including Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Stephen Strange, and of course, Spider-Man. Critics have noted that no other filmmaker could do justice in showcasing NYC as the backdrop for their stories the way Sam Raimi did. Game Rant mentioned,
Raimi’s take on NYC perfectly captures the magic of the city and the unique otherworldly effect that Marvel Comics lends it.
And now, Daredevil: Born Again has attempted to do the same and fans are impressed. With BB report segments, the show goes on to depict how normal people feel once again. It can be said that this move has been inspired by the golden book of Sam Raimi. But the show not only depicts the city in the truest form but goes onto acknowledge the fact that technology has evolved.
The BB report has been pictured as an independent outlet that runs on short video bites, which goes on to show that the news media has been updated. However, it should be noted that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is one of the beloved characters in MCU, but fans find it hard to connect with the surroundings in his movies as it does not showcase the city the way Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies did.
It has been seen that even though Holland’s Peter Parker is their savior, the general public is hardly shown, which is something that people find hard to connect to.
Daredevil: Born Again becomes Disney’s most-watched premiere of 2025 (so far)
The highly awaited Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again got the ardent fans of Daredevil excited as their wait to see Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock back on screen was finally coming to an end. And the show’s premiere on Disney+ did not disappoint.
According to reports by Variety, Daredevil: Born Again has recorded about 7.5 million global views in the first five days of its release. The series became the most-watched premiere of 2025 so far for the streaming platform. Fans were extremely happy to know that most of the original cast were returning to reprise their characters.

One of the most mentioned scenes in Daredevil: Born Again is the death of Foggy Nelson, played by Elden Henson, who is set to return for season 2. The actor appeared at a fan convention and shared that he feels apologetic for allowing fans to believe that he has more than a couple of minutes screen time. He said (via CBM)
I felt guilty because everyone was so excited, but obviously, it wasn’t my decision. I think it’s because I ran Kevin Feige’s foot over with my car.
Brad Winderbaum shared with Brandon Davis that Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will return for season 2. He did not mention how the character following his death in episode 1 will be brought back, but fans are excited to see how things will turn out.
