She said: “I still can’t go over it myself. I think it’s written with a lot of heart, because I do love it a lot. It’s one of the loves of my life, Madame Blanc.”

Discussing her real name and the strange link to the show, Sally told the mag that her married name is actually Mrs White, making her a real-life Madame Blanc.

She said: “Because obviously I never took Steve’s name… my kids have got Steve’s name, but I never took Steve’s name, a) because who’s Sally White, you know what I mean?

“All those years building a name up, but also I don’t particularly agree with it. I’ve not got a big thing about it, but I was 40 when I got married… But that was my little love letter to him, that’s why I call myself Mrs White. I think he quite liked it!”

Sally’s husband, Steve, 59, a musician, makes the music for the show and is a star in his own right.

At just 17 years old, he started playing with punk rock legend Paul Weller and his band, The Style Council.

He even became the youngest drummer ever on stage at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in 1985, aged 20.

Steve left The Style Council in 1989 to work with other famous artists, including the likes of Ian Dury, The James Taylor Quartet, The Redskins and the Jazz Renegades.

The couple, who have been together for 21 years, tied the knot back in 2013. Steve told Hello!: “The service was perfect – personal but simple, emotional and heartfelt, which is what we wanted it to be.”

Sally said: “Some girls have been planning their wedding day since they were six, but I was never one of them.

“And to be honest, I never thought I’d have kids. Because of the career I’d chosen, I never thought it would be possible. And then I met Steve.

“I wanted to get married and have children with him. It was the man I met who changed everything for me, not the fantasy.”

Sally and Steve are parents to 15-year-old twin boys Victor and Louie. The twins, who are non-identical, were born in September 2010.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries returns for new series on Thursday March 20 at 9 pm on Channel 5.
